Cretaceous Marine Fossils
Fox Hills Sandstone Formation
Milliken Sandstone Member, CO

(7/25/2006)

Detailed site information is not included on these pages because it's on private land.

These marine fossils are from the Cretaceous Fox Hills Sandstone Formation, Millken Sandstone Member of Colorado.  Fossils found include shark teeth, fish vertebrae, reptile teeth, clams, gastropods, ammonites, etc.  Except for the teeth and vertebrae, preservation is not good.  The matrix is coarse sand that breaks up easily and fractures the fossils.  Therefore, most of the fossils found were not recovered.

Specimens in the images (link below) were donated to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science for a new collection on 9/14/06.
