Secrets of the Dioramas
(at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science)
.
The dioramas at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science (DMNS) hold some secrets.  The artist, Kent Pendleton, who painted the diorama backgrounds often hid elves in them as a sort of signature of his work.  Also, there are two butterflies in the dioramas with a secret of their own - they move!  They are powered by tiny pneumatic motors that make their wings move at regular intervals.  These pages provide a pictorial guide so you can look for the elves and butterflies on your next visit to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
